Lap Simulator

1/1
Background:
As an engineer on Caltech's FSAE team, I was tasked with designing our vehicle's suspension system.
Problem Statement:
Conventionally, many formula SAE teams can test their vehicle and optimize their suspension design through physical testing. Since our team was relatively small, we couldn't test as much as others, so we needed to figure out a way to optimize our suspension without testing.
Solution:
The simulator was a tool we used to run virtual laps on the computer, the software would analyze the lap times and use a Monte-Carlo simulation approach to randomly walk through suspension setups and find the optimal one for speed and energy efficiency.
